Taylor Swift Wore a Friendship Bracelet Michelle Wie West Designed for Her (Extended) | Tonight Show

-Michelle Wie West, it’s always good to see you, pal. -Oh, my gosh, how cool is this? -I mean, come on, I have my own show. -I know, so cool. -You only know me from the golf course. -I only know you as a golfer. -Exactly. Thank you so much. -You have your own show! -Yeah. I didn’t tell you this? We meet each other once a year, for the last three years. Justin Timberlake has this golf tournament called the 8AM golf tournament, and we end up golfing together. -Yeah. -And can I just tell you, you’re just the best. You’re exactly who I wanted you to be when I met you. I’m like, "I hope she’s cool," and you’re beyond cool and nice to everybody, and chill. Remember we played, we were partners? -Yeah, we were. -And that was so fun. I had a speaker that we were cranking tunes and I was in my, like, Canadian folk singer phase. -You were. That was a bit strange. -Yeah, it was a little low. It wasn’t hype. -No. -But I remember you were driving and you go, "So is this the type of music that you listen to?" -It was very folky and like… -Yeah, you were very polite about it. You took, like, five minutes or whatever, you’re like, "So is this the type of — This is what you play in your head when you’re just like running around?" I just love that you were just so fun. -I have to say though, your golf game this year was, like, so much better than last year. -Thank you. Really? -I mean, last year was — I mean, the year before was great, but this year– -I upped my game a little bit. -I think you birdied the first hole. And this year, we’re playing against you. You weren’t my partner, so I didn’t appreciate that. -Yeah that was amazing. But I had that cool, weird putter, too. -You had a gold putter. -I had a golden putter that I was using that looked like a fox. -It was very– -It had ears. Yeah, it was pretty fancy. -It was a Kith putter. -It was a Kith TaylorMade putter, oh yeah. It was the coolest thing by far I’ve ever touched. I had to give it back right after the tournament. Yeah, I couldn’t keep it. I want to say Happy Mother’s Day ’cause yesterday it was Mother’s Day and you have a little baby. And how old is she? -She’s almost four, next month. -She’s four. -Yeah. -And it was a very special Mother’s Day. And I think we can tell everyone why, if you want to. Quest, can I got a drum roll, please? [ Drum roll ] Do you have something to announce? -Yeah, we have baby number two coming. [ Cheers and applause ] -I’m so happy! Hi, baby. -Hi. -Hi, baby number two. -You’re on "The Tonight Show." -Welcome to "The Tonight Show." Yes, you’re on "The Tonight Show," baby. Do we know boy or girl? -Boy. -Really? Congratulations. -Thank you. -You have a girl and a boy. -Yeah. -It’s gonna be interesting. Do you have any expectations of what it’s going to be like? -My daughter is so excited. She’s telling everyone. Like, way before we told anyone else, her teacher called us over and was like, "Oh, can I talk to you for a second?" And she was like, "Are you…" Like, because, you know, we did IVF this time. And she kept saying, "Oh, my parents are going to LA to get the baby." [ Laughter ] -"To get the baby." [ Laughter ] -So her teacher was like, "So…" -Hey, maybe you shouldn’t be telling everyone this, "To get the baby," oh my, it’s so cute. And is she going to be a pro golfer? -She does love it, she takes lessons once a week with her friend. -I have a video that you brought of your daughter Makenna playing golf. Take a look at this. Hey, I mean, are you kidding me? That’s phenomenal, by the way. That’s much better than my swing. Um, I want to talk to you about a couple of things. First of all, now you’re retired from golf, and I go, "Well, how’s retirement?" You’re so young and I go, "What are you doing?" And you’re doing a bunch of things. -Mm-hmm. -But one of the things you’re doing is you started your own jewelry line. -Yes, yeah. -Okay, and you go, "Yeah, that’s cool," so I want to support, but why do you need me to support when Taylor Swift is wearing your jewelry hugging Travis Kelce? -[ Applause ] -Are you kidding me? TNT. Explain this to me. How did this all come about? -Well all thanks to Travis Kelce. -We love him. He’s the best. -Also 8AM guy. -Oh, was that from– -Yeah. -Did you meet him at Justin’s tournament? -I did, yeah. The first year, yeah. And we love him. -He’s the best. -He’s the best. -He’s so fun. -So, I came up with the line, you can see it’s like a really upscale friendship bracelet. Really inspired by Taylor. You know, it has diamonds, It has, like, the beads, you can personalize however you want. So I messaged him and I was like, "Hey, you know, we made a bracelet inspired by Taylor, like, we would love to just give her one. I don’t care what she does with it. I just want it to be given to her." -Yes, just it’s out in the world that she exists and she has it. -In the proximity of her. -Yeah. Why not? Perfect. -And I don’t really care about the football too much. And after the game was done, I started screaming at my phone. I was like, "Oh, my God!" And my husband’s like, "Oh, my God, what’s wrong?" I was like, "Taylor Swift is wearing my bracelet." And it was just like the craziest thing. -What does it say? It’s "TNT"? -Yeah. -Like dynamite? What is… -Maybe Travis ‘N Taylor. -Ohhh, I like TNT. That’s genius. -Yeah. -But that couldn’t be bigger. I mean, what in the world. Are you kidding me? -I couldn’t believe it. -Congratulations. -Thank you. -It couldn’t happen to a better person. You’re the coolest. -I was just– I can’t believe it. -I want to talk to you about a beautiful documentary I just saw about you. Were you nervous to do a documentary? -Very. -Yeah. And kind of talk about your whole life? -Yeah, I mean, I don’t think I ever wanted to do a documentary or write a book about myself. I don’t like seeing myself on TV. But I met this amazing production company called Campfire and amazing people that work there, and I just, I don’t think if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have told my story because they just, they kind of just got it and they didn’t, you know, tantalize my journey or whatnot. They just wanted to be inspirational. And I knew it was something that I could show my daughter. So it was weird. It was weird to go through every single moment in your life. -‘Cause you have the great parts of your life… -Yeah, but also the bad. -Yeah. The struggles. -Yeah. -But you said that you like showing everyone you’re, like, you failing. -Yeah, I do. -Because that’s the best learning moments or that’s when you get to see your true how you act. -Yeah, I mean, you know, in my career I made a lot of really bold decisions, like, crazy decisions that, you know– -Would you make them now? -I don’t know. You know, I think as as an adult there are decisions that I probably wouldn’t make because you’re too rational, but as a kid, you’re like, "Yeah, let’s do it." -Yeah I know, "Go for it." -"Yeah, let’s play in a PGA tour event, Why not?" -"Why not? We’re ready." -And I just want girls to know that you are going to fail a lot. And it’s okay to fail a lot. Just go big because one might hit. -[ Cheers and applause ] -One might hit. -One might. -One might. -One might work. [ Applause ] Let’s talk about this tournament. May 13 at Liberty. -Yes. -What are you doing over there? -Yeah, I’m the tournament host of the Mizuho Americas Open. It’s always a dream of mine to be a tournament host. You know, Tiger has his own tournament, Jack Nicklaus, and to be in the same breath as those is amazing, but our tournament’s really cool. Um, Liberty. National, iconic venue. -I love Liberty National. -But my favorite part about the event is that we have 24 of the top junior girls in the field. I started my career as a 12 year old playing in LPGA events, and it’s amazing to give the same experience to other 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 year olds. And we have a great mentor program, big sister program, where they get to play in practice round together, they play Saturday, Sunday, the most important days together. So they get to learn inside the ropes what it’s like to be a professional golfer. So I get really excited about it. -And they get a pro like you to look up to. And it’s pretty awesome, by the way, ’cause you’re the best. I want to congratulate you on that. I want to show a clip. Here’s a here’s a peek at "Dream Big: The Michelle Wie Story," look at this. -I love playing sports. I wanted to be a professional athlete. -We encouraged you to do a lot of different sports. [ Cheering ] She did soccer. She could kick the ball really far, but she couldn’t score it well. [ Laughs ] Swimming, she really enjoyed swimming, but she was very slow. -She did the ballet for a year, but she was kind of big when she was baby. -We focused on tennis, but she didn’t want to run. -Good swing, Michelle. -That’s Michelle Wie. -Baseball was good because she could hit farther than other boys. -Whoo! Go, go, go, Michelle! Run, run! -Dude, you know what’s great? [ Cheers and applause ] Your parents are just– -Yeah. Hold up. That whole clip was just my parents roasting me. [ Laughter ] -I love you, Mom and Dad. Michelle Wie West, everybody. "Dream Big" premieres this Saturday on NBC and starts streaming the next day on Peacock. More "Tonight Show" after the break.
