briefly shown including the battle bus and the floss dance Stanley Marvel Comics former writer editor and publisher makes a cameo appearance in the film Lee died some days before the film’s premiere making his appearance in Ralph breaks the internet one of his final cameos in films the filmmaker ERS revealed that the film originally featured a joke about kylo Ren being a spoiled child which was later cut from the film by request from Lucas film because it would undermine his role as a villain also cut from the film was C3 Poe being mockingly called R2-D2 and bb8 by the princesses Additionally the film would originally include the golden girl’s characters but it was later cut because the directors felt it was a bizarre juxtaposition the legion of Ralph clones which forms a gigantic Ralph monster resembles the King Kong character from various films during production the giant monster form was dubbed Ralph Sila after Godzilla development in September 292 2 months before wet Ralph was released Rich Moore said that there were already ideas for a sequel and in March 2013 Moore said that he and Disney had ideas about a sequel that would bring the characters up to date and explore online gaming and console gaming Moore stated that many of the crew and voice cast were open to the sequel believing that they have barely scratched the surface of the Video Game World they envisioned he also stated that he planned to include Tron in the sequel which appears briefly in the film where Ralph and velope race at the beginning in 2014 the first film’s composer Henry Jackman said that a story for the sequel was being written in March 2016 Moore stated that a sequel was still being planned in June 2016 Walt Disney Animation Studios announced that the sequel would be released on March 9 2018 with Moore and Phil Johnston attached and that its story would be one where Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the internet in March 2017 the sequel’s title was officially announced as Ralph breaks the internet Wreck-It Ralph 2 with more returning as Direct joined by the first film’s co-writer Johnston and Clark Spencer also returning as producer in July 2018 Disney removed recit Ralph 2 from the film’s title writing two working versions of the script had been scrapped before settling on the one used for the film according to headwriter Josie Trinidad in one version velou had become self-absorbed by the internet gaining popularity and becoming a celebrity among the users Ralph had been thrown in jail where he met the search engine noore and they had partnered together to escape prison and help bring velope back to her normal self a second version had Ralph becoming an internet famous celebrity and would have been challenged by an anti-virus program named Bev that served as a super cop and would have been the story’s villain Trinidad said neither of these versions captured what they felt was the centerpiece of the sequel being how Ralph and velou reacted to the new world of the internet and realizing they have separate paths going forward producer Clark Spencer said that the film is about change two best friends are about to realize that the world won’t always be the same the internet is the perfect setting really because it’s all about change things change by the second director of story Jim rean said that it was intimidating to set the film on the internet stating that they looked at how they could make the internet relatable on a human level like how Game Central Station AK the power strip mirrored a train station in the first movie reared it however said that Disney didn’t want to make the movie about the internet instead focus on Ralph and vayal op’s friendship and to treat the internet as the place where the movie takes place Josie Trinidad claimed that the filmmakers didn’t want to just give the audience more of that friendship people had to see that relationship grow the designs of scenes within the internet were based on tours made of one Wilshire in Los Angeles as it is one of the world’s largest telecommunications centers the filmmakers did not approach any of the companies outside of Disney that are represented on the internet and strove to include net branding from all across the world they also had to explore various internet memes making sure to avoid those that lacked long-term presence on the internet while the film addresses many positive elements of the internet the filmmakers did not want to to shy away from covering some of the more unpleasant aspects about it in part fueled by the success of tackling racism indirectly within zootopia they wanted to follow the same approach as they had with Judy hops in zootopia where she experienced learned and overcame the racism aspects and have Ralph similarly learn and become a better person without having to actually solve the issue of hostility on the internet the scene where vanelope is introduced to the Disney Princesses came from screenwriter Pamela ribbon in 2014 ribbon was still working on Mona when Disney began internally pitching ideas for the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph ribbon recognized that like the title character of Mona velou fits the definition of a Disney princess when work formally began on the sequel after the completion of zootopia ribbon pitched the idea of Disney poking fun at Itself by having vinal op meet the other Disney princesses in The Green Room of omad Disney C the Disney fan driven website further inspiration came from a buzzfeed online quiz that asked which Disney Princess the user was Moore thought it would be interesting if Ralph had encountered that quiz and ended up in an argument with velou over the result the script was written by ribbon which she wanted to include the various tropes of the princesses with them making in the Final Cut for the film Moore and Johnston were satisfied with the script casting in July 2015 John C Riley said he had signed on to reprise his role of Ralph in a projected sequel in March 2017 Jane Lynch Jack MCB and Sarah Silverman were reported as being set to reprise their roles in December 2016 Alan tutk confirmed his return in the sequel as a different character named noore after previously voicing King Candy in the first film during production Moore invited film composer Michael jino to reprise his role as the Stormtrooper FN 328 from Star Wars the Force awakens in the film in August 2018 actress gal gadat joined the cast as shank the production team on the film was able to secure all the Disney princess’s original voice actresses except for Adriana kotti as Snow White Eileen Woods as Cinderella and Mary Costa as Aurora due to the forers having both died in 1997 and 2010 respectively while the latter retired from acting in t citation needed Jennifer hail and Kate Higgins the current voice actresses for Cinderella and Aurora were hired for the film Pamela ribbon the film’s co-screenwriter performed Snow White’s voice for temporary tracks but the teen considered it a good substitute allowing ribbon to voice her in the final film animation the film contains over 150 unique sets and 5 700 26 assets and includes the highest number of characters in any Disney Animation film with 434 individual characters with six 752 variants one of the Disney animators who helped out to bring the Disney Princesses into CGI animation was Mark hen who was also the original supervising animator of princess’s Ariel Bell Jasmine Mulan and Tiana hen also served as the supervising animator for the film’s background hand drawn animated characters animators had to work out various techniques to take the different styles of Animation into a single approach and figure out the proportions of the characters using official figurines unlike their original film counterparts the Disney princesses in the film were rendered in a more cartoony Style with bigger eyes and ears in the initial trailer for the film the African-American princess character Tiana appeared to have a lighter skin tone a narrower nose and more European features than she did in the 29 film The Princess and the Frog this led to some backlashes on social media as these Drew her appearance away from that expected of African-Americans as a result Disney contacted chana’s voice actress anaka Noni Rose and the advocacy group color of change to redesign Tana for Ralph breaks the internet to make sure she resembles more closely to her 2009 appearance the updated character model was revealed in the second trailer the same treatment was given to pah hontas the titular character of the 1995 film as many viewers had pointed out that she was also given a much lighter skin tone a scene featured in the film’s original teaser released in March 2018 involving Ralph and velou invading a children’s game and feeding pancakes to a bunny to the point that it is implied to explode was heavily discussed prior to the film’s release however the scene was eventually cut from the film and instead placed halfway through the credits with the addition of a meta conversation where one of the characters alludes to having just watched a movie where a scene from the trailer was missing the post credit scene involves what starts as a teaser for Frozen Roman 2 but cuts to Ralph rickrolling the Audience by starting to sing Rick Ashley’s Never Going To Give You Up while producers Spencer and Moore had an idea of Ralph doing a wreck roll early on in the film’s development they never Incorporated it into the story as it was one of the last scenes added the producers had gotten Riley who was on vacation with his family at the time to come into a New York City studio to record for the day so that the animators could work from that music and soundtrack on September 19 2018 Imagine Dragons released the lead single from the soundtrack titled zero which plays during the end credits of the film on October 23 2018 the music video of Zero might begin to realize that we’re watching a terrifying incisive satire about the ways that a life lived online makes Monsters of us all Brian Lori of CNN said that the colorful action should Delight but the smart media Savvy asides make it especially appealing to grown-ups Carrie lenel of the Arizona Republic gave the film three and a half stars out of five saying what makes the movie compelling despite the subdued dramatic payoff is that it is a heightened reflection of our experience our love affair really with our gadgets our apps and yes Our Brands Peter har lob of the San Francisco Chronicle gave the film three stars out of four state that the film is almost always inspired in the moment and said that the new characters are all pretty great though he said that the film’s first third struggles to find its focus and felt that Felix and Calhoun subplot would have worked better as a pre-movie animated short Chris bum of jablo movie Emporium said that the film is just as solid as the first film and said it was compared to the science fiction film Ready Player One Brian Bishop of the Verge described the film as the Lego movie of Disney films stating that it Soares when it sends up the Studio’s own films but its portrayal of the internet feels a little optimistic for tuning 18 Oliver Jones of the New York Observer gave the film a two and a half score saying that Ralph breaks the internet is a candy coated hard shined brick of postmodernism a Vitamix smoothie of gags Nostalgia product placement and Fruity Pebbles a Alonso dalala of furra said that within a few years the specifics of the viral video gags in Ralph breaks the internet will be as dated as a tande joke Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian said that the sequel to the tun2 film is somewhere between Ready Player 1 and the Emoji Movie summoning up a zero gravity spectacle of dazzling colors and vertiginous perspectives a featureless and inert mashup of memes Brands avatars and jokes future directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston said that a Ralph breaks the internet spin-off film focusing on the Disney Princesses could be made depending on the audience’s response and if there’s a good story to be told also John C Riley says that he has an idea if a third film was to be made he would consider seeing Ralph and velope beaming themselves right out into space Ralph breaks the Internet movie review after a clunky few scenes that seen content to recall the first film more than expand on it Ralph breaks the internet the sequel to Tony 12’s beloved Wreck-It Ralph really opens up and delivers for kids and adults it even becomes the rare product of the Hollywood machine that questions some of the lessons that have come before it particularly in relation to the myth of the Disney princess but also with a well-done theme that offers a richer truth than a lot of family entertainment as a parent of of three boys trust me when I tell you that a lot of kids movies are about getting people together to form a team stop a bad guy solve a problem Etc and no one is denying the importance of team building as a lesson for kids but Ralph breaks the internet dares to encourage kids to not only be themselves but allow their friends to be true to their wants and needs as well your friend doesn’t have to be exactly like you to be your friend it’s a message that’s very well through dreed through an entertaining clever ride unlike Incredibles 2 which compressed real world time to produce a sequel that picked up immediately after the action of the first film six years have gone by in the world of Ralph John C Riley and vinal op Sarah Silverman the former villain is happy with his routine of working in his game in lit wax arcade during the day and hanging out with his best bud at night they even get some Recreation time in the Tron game and hang out at tappers to drink root beer Felix Jack mcra and calone Jane Lynch are back as well but this is all mere prologue to the bulk of the film which unfolds when lit whac plugs in a Wi-Fi router seeking something more adventurous than her repetitive tracks in Sugar Rush as well as a new wheel to fix her broken game vinal op races off to the mythical internet and Ralph follows just as the first Wreck-It Ralph allowed for consistent references to the world of arcade games sending its protagonists to the internet allows for a regular flow of jokes and Easter eggs for adults and kids the design of the internet here looks a little like the future Sky cities of the fifth element with avatars of real world users racing in every direction those exhausted by real business branding in family films may want to turn away as the creators of Ralph have Blended their reality with our own resulting in numerous shots of real logos for companies like Amazon eBay and Pinterest alongside madeup ones like noore and a hit game called Slaughter race that GTA inspired racing game is where vayal ope discovers that her skills are going to waste in Sugar Rush she might want more of her digital life than Ralph and the internet promises New Opportunities there are a number of smart themes woven through Ralph breaks the internet in ways that kids may not fully grasp but are open for convers ations they can have with their parents after unlike soulless product placement films like the Emoji Movie the writers here grapple with the concept of the internet as an amplifier for good and bad without spoiling the Final Act of Ralph breaks the internet hinges on how the internet broadcasts vinal opes And Ralph’s insecurities something it arguably has the power to do for everyone of course kids will go for the action and comedy both of which are here in abundance even if the script feels like it could have used a little tightening 112 minutes is pretty lengthy for an animated adventure for the most part Ralph breaks the internet is astute and funny especially in a fantastic subplot involving velou meeting the Disney Princesses the heroins from films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Tangled pacah hontas The Little Mermaid and many more they tell her how they break into song when they’re sad usually while looking at a body of water and how often they need men to save them it’s an incredibly witty scene that wrestles with Disney’s Legacy when the filmmakers could have just included another tribute to the company that pays their bills Ralph breaks the internet works best when it takes risks like that so many family filmmakers think they need to take as few risks as possible offering easily digestable content that parents can use as a babysitter more than a teaching tool but Ralph breaks the internet works because it doesn’t Pander and it doesn’t simplify in the first movie Ralph learned he was more than a bad guy in this one he learns that it’s okay to want variety and stand out from the crowd if only more animators could learn the same lesson as Ralph other information about this film after going from 8 bit0 to Arcade hero during his original outing Wreck-It Ralph levels up in a big way with Ralph breaks the internet an ambitious allaround satisfying sequel to Walt Disney animations wonderfully outside the box smash that ranks among the Studio’s very best Tunes it’s a poignant buddy movie that’s sincere in all the right places but knows better than to take itself too seriously while the 2012 project was an inspired example of easily expandable World building this more clever than expected follow-up skips the obvious Next Step simply exploring the other games that share the same power strip and sets out to conquer the relative vastness of cyberspace instead that’s a lofty goal for any sequel further Complicated by the fact that reformed bad guy Ralph voiced by lovable lug John C Riley has made friends with fellow Misfit velope Von schweet Sarah Silverman which calls for an allnew Dynamic part of what made Wreck-It Ralph so much fun was the way director Rich Moore a Simpsons Alum subverted the wholesome friendly world of singing princesses and their predictable fairy tale adventures in favor of irreverent fun with characters that genen X viewers might recognize as being inspired by the video games of their childhood this time around Moore shares directing duties with Phil Johnston who co-wrote the original with returning screenwriter Pamela ribbon and together they tackle the challenge of finding an intuitive way to depict the web that will be recognized worldwide and for years to come the creative team’s answer is less Tron than Sleek 22nd century Tokyo a futuristic super City where floating information super highways snake through virtual skyscrapers while Billboards and popup ads tout practically every family appropriate brand you can think of which was plainly some clearance lawyer’s worst nightmare after some amusing late night interactions between the video game characters at lit wax arcade The Ensemble gathers to examine the lest addition to the already overloaded surge protector a Wi-Fi router that looms as menacingly as Buzz Lightyear did to a room full of outdated play things in Toy Story just as the new device arrives a malfunction to the Sugar Rush game forces vinal ope and her fellow Racers to flee prompting the quest that will send the Glitchy princess who flickers whenever she’s feeling insecure and her temperamental besti out in search of a replacement part before litwack Ed O’Neal pulls the plug like Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player one earlier this year the internet as Metropolis metaphor vastly oversimplifies what it’s trying to illustrate which may date this sequel somewhat in the long run though it feels perfectly fresh for the moment allowing reformed villain Ralph to become both a viral video sensation and a computer virus at various points in the story besides the object here is to playfully Riff on the way people use the internet contrasting all that these sites have to offer from online auctions to autocomplete search engines with a frustration of figuring out how everything works in the absence of an experienced adult for parents worried about how their kids use the web Ralph breaks the internet sounds a note of mild caution reinforcing the importance of understanding the sites one visits social media commenters are depicted as potentially toxic and eBay can be dangerous in their naive Ralph and velou accidentally wind up bidding doar 27 A1 making one nostalgic for the day when the worst a child could do was run up a phone bill calling 1 1900 hotlines to listen to recordings of Hulk Hogan or the Backstreet Boys woefully ill prepared for the internet the two old school arcade characters come across as a couple of country bumpkins overwhelmed by the big city by this point velope has already been nursing doubts about her place in the universe questioning whether there could be more to life than doing endless laps around the same tracks on the internet she discovers Slaughter race a more grown-up Grand Theft Auto style driving game where she’s finally able to pit her Daredevil driving skills against someone as well matched to her tricks that would be shank gal gadat a strong female role model who does wonders for her self-confidence it’s a crime infested hellhole but to velou it’s Paradise inspiring her hilariously unconventional I want song and one of the movie’s standout sequences a place called Slaughter race whenever a CG character suffers an existential crisis of this magnitude the creators are cribbing from the Pixar Playbook even though this movie was made by the folks that Disney John Lasser gets a credit but was on leave for the final year of production it adheres far closer to the feel-good formula of its norel cousins in this case that’s an asset considering how much of the original film’s Renegade Spirit remains as in the openly satirical approach the sequel takes towards so many other Disney Brands the princesses in particular while Ralph discovers how easily a reformed meanie can become a meme velou Ventures over to the old my Disney virtual world where she spots several Star Wars characters and the obligatory newly poignant Stanley Cameo there living happily at Ever After in a posh Lounge she stumbles on Disney royalty now Idol celebrities Anna and Elsa Ariel Aurora Bell Cinderella Jasmine Mona milen pacah hontas Snow White and Tiana all but the eldest voiced by the original performers ribbon subs for Snow White even Kelly McDonald who embodied brave for the other Studio drops in earning laughs by making Merida Scottish brogue all but unintelligible looking at vanelope who’s a Disney princess to albeit an unconventional one surrounded by these icons fans May flash back to the poster for Lilo and Stitch which featured the Studio’s most recognizable characters recoiling from the Oddball alien there’s one in Every Family the tagline read 16 years later Ralph breaks the internet delivers on that notion celebrating the joys of being the black sheep even as it preaches a fresh understanding of friendship ship vanal op’s the first to understand that lesson while Ralph is distracted by the joys of becoming an internet sensation making clickbait videos for hype Master yes Terra GP Hensen on Buzz tube many of which were used to promote the film itself Earl when fickle audiences lose interest Ralph gets desperate venturing into the dark net for a shortcut that will exploit his insecurities and you guessed it break the internet things could have spiraled out of control in this last act as a swarm of tiny Ralphs who was Loosely modeled after Donkey Kong in the first place combined to form a massive King Kong like Mega Monster in this Virtual City of course Google owns the equivalent of the Empire State Building making it the logical place to Stage the final showdown luckily the jokes keep coming even as the film takes this potentially intense turn giving all those princesses a chance to flip the script on their traditional gender roles Trace Disney animated features back to their Roots as many an academic has and one can find plenty of sexist and racist problems though the studio has taken a proactive role in trying to correct that over the past decade or so culminating in 2016’s brilliant K we all just get a long Parable zootopia Ralph is a disruptor by Design and in many ways he’s the ideal character to bring about the next seismic shift creating a space where the stud Studio can poke fun at itself while presenting a more enlightened narrative for fans the movie isn’t all laugh however managing to surprise at times by how nuanced the animation can be who would have thought that while breaking the internet Ralph might be breaking our hearts as well positive elements Ralph breaks the internet focuses on the theme of how friendships evolve over time and it suggests that sometimes you have to step back and give friends space to make their own choices even choices you don’t agree with velou for instance decides that she wants to race in an online game that’s dangerous and destructive Ralph hates the idea but after several attempts to change her mind he steps aside we got to trust her Ralph suggests because that’s what best friends do all friendships change someone else adds but the good ones they get stronger because of it as this movie’s title suggests it’s it’s not long before Wreck-It Ralph breaks the internet setting off a digitally destructive chain of events after he realizes what he’s done Ralph puts his own existence on the line to save velope she does the same Ralph and velou eventually Express their platonic love for each other as dear friends when the Sugar Rush game goes down Felix and his wife Calhoun two married characters from two other games decide to adopt all of that broken game games Young Racers and give them a solid home another game character warns I know that you’ve been married 6 months and you want to spice things up but adopting 15 kids is not the right spice however we later see that all of those rambunctious kid Racers have become better and more caring people because of their adoptive family environment the movie also suggests in a cautionary way that internet users can easily waste far too many hours watching nonsense sensical detrius online Ralph in fact even tries to monetize that human desire for silly stuff as he’s in need of money to buy that coveted part and make some videos of his own but when Ralph checks the comment feed on his videos he sees many negative and hurtful comments that internet trolls have left calling him a worthless bum and the like this place can bring out the worst in some people Ralph is told spiritual elements after a adopting those 15 Racers Felix nervously says now I’m the father of 15 kids isn’t that a blessing when heading off to the internet Ralph tells velou put on your church shoes little sister sexual content Ralph and velou find their way into a racing game called Slaughter race and the big boss there is a female character named shank who wears a formfitting leather outfit violent content shank who tough as Nails ushers vyou into a gritty game that’s set in a dark and dirty Urban underworld it’s a trash strewn place where Racers crash their cars Vehicles explode rubbish Burns in heaps and a shark pops out of a manhole to swallow a fierce looking dog two avatars get crisped by flamethrowers offc screen those visuals though are all still pretty cartoony and the dying characters return for another try still Ralph shares his negative opinion of Shanks races saying those games rot your brains apart from that game in particular we see an ongoing Carousel of thumping tumbling swirling violence centered around Ralph and velou they fall into and over things in the internet and they’re sent stumbling about or racing through that fast-paced world when a computer virus multiplies Ralph’s insecurities into an army of bumbling destructive Ralphs things get a little perilous for the friends a cute video game character eats so much that it explodes offscreen causing a human child who’s playing the game on a tablet to cry out in fear crude or profane language along with a couple exclamations of good Lord we also hear uses of what the heck gosh dang it oh my gosh and mother hubard drug and alcohol content Ralph and a friend drink mugs of root beer in a pub like game called tappers other negative elements we hear a number of poop and butt jokes as well as phrases such as farting is such sweet sorrow and see ya stink brain conclusion movies are at their best when instead of telling you what you should be thinking or feeling about something they ask you to consider certain ideas instead and that’s definitely where Ralph breaks the internet gets it right at the end of the first film in this Disney franchise Wreck-It Ralph the titular herob bad guy walked away convinced that he didn’t have to be defined by his job I.E being a building crushing villain in a video game instead he was defined by the self-sacrificial choices he made and the friendships he formed but is that enough this sequel asks it then prompts us to ponder several other parallel questions what do you do when your friendships change what if you discover that your friends aren’t really all that nice where do you fit when do you walk away what makes you you those are solid questions for kids to chew over with parents and Pals on the ride home from the theater and as it asks questions like those this pick also takes a couple humor packed swings at issues such as cyber bullying and being consumed by a viral video world even the Disney princesses all 11 of them get into the act of comically challenging convention and I for one would love to see a Disney princess team up pick in the very near future that said there’s Ralph’s other Mega sized muddy boot to be aware of two he and velou are constantly tag teaming potty puns butt jokes and all manner of name calling Giggles while on their Adventure through the internet and those things no doubt will likely be the first things your kids talk about on the ride home what you need to know Ralph breaks the internet is a hilarious imaginative heartfelt sequel to Disney’s wrecked Ralph about the arcade villain who doesn’t want to be the villain but wants to be the hero in the sequel Ralph has to help his best friend velou save the game where she lives by going into the internet to buy a spare part on eBay in the internet Ralph and velope are exposed to A Whole New World with both good and bad parts while in the internet their relationship is tested and Ralph must overcome his own insecurities Ralph breaks the internet is very clever in its exploration of the internet with tongue-in-cheek jokes about Disney technology and our media obsessed culture there are strong moral messages about not holding friends back from following their passions loyalty courage and even the beautiful Act of adoption the movie also contains positive Christian references Ralph breaks the internet is loads of fun and many families will enjoy it CAU is advised for younger children for light inuendos scenes occurring in an intense game and other thematic elements content dominant worldview and other worldview contentments very strong moral worldview stresses not holding friends back from following their passions loyalty courage adoption and family with positive Christian references and themes of self-sacrifice character says to put on your church shoes and references to mirac Les and blessings plus some light romantic politically correct feminist undertones where Disney Princess Characters joke about always needing to be saved by men foul language one light good Lord exclamatory profanity a possibly muffled light OMG profanity character says gosh dang it and characters burp violence light animated violence includes an exciting car chase in a game similar to the violent Grand Theft Auto game with edgy characters who look intense but actually are really nice a shark eats a dog and people appear to be looting in the background Ralph buys a virus to destroy a game that looks like a scary metallic snake a giant monster made up of Ralph replicas creates Mayhem and tries to capture the lead characters more detail Ralph breaks the internet is a hilarious imaginative heartfelt sequel to Disney’s hit movie Wreck-It Ralph about the arcade villain who doesn’t want to be the villain of a game anymore but wants to be the hero in this sequel Ralph and his best friend vanelope a character in the racing arcade Sugar Rush do everything together every day after all the humans have left the arcade Ralph meets up with velou where they drink root beer play games together and just have lots of fun Ralph is perfectly content with his life but velou is a thrill seeking adventurer who feels their something more out there for her one day the arcade owner plugs in a wireless Internet modem just like that Ralph and velope hear about a huge World beyond their arcade when vinal op’s arcade machine breaks while a child was turning the steering wheel too hard they discover there’s a spare part on a website called eBay Ralph decides to go with velou into the strange new world of the internet to find her gains broken part so they can return to their normal lives the internet World they enter looks like a ginormous city where the biggest buildings are the biggest online entities like Google Facebook Amazon and others of course there’s all sorts of dangers in this internet City too like people who shove quick Rich popup ads in your face and viruses when Ralph and vanelope go to eBay to get her games steering wheel they learn they need1 300 to buy it and only have 24 hours to pay so they set out to try to earn some quick money so they can save vanal op’s arcade on their journey together Ralph and vinal op’s friendship is tested and stretched also velou starts to realize a dream that goes beyond the arcade she’s always known Ralph breaks the internet is hilariously imaginative entertaining fun the world of the internet and how humans interact with and use the internet is explored in Creative funny poignant ways for example at one point with the help of a character named yes Ralph decides to make money by becoming an internet sensation and making viral videos similar to the videos that go viral today at another Point velou visits Disney where she runs into all of the Disney movie princesses in addition to Star Wars Marvel and Muppets characters the tongue and cheek humor as well as the technological references clearly cater toward adult viewers however children are sure to enjoy seeing some of their favorite animated characters pop up in one movie along with being funny and smart the movie is deeply emotional and may have adults reaching for tissues thematically the movie’s Jeopardy is tied up in the friendship between Ralph and velou all of Ralph’s selfworth lies in the fact that he’s a hero to velou so then she feels she’ll be happier living in the internet it wrecks Ralph’s World it’s a classic Man vs himself tale which isn’t a common story for animated movies the underlying message is that insecurity and codependence is toxic for friendships and any relationship for that matter it’s a fairly mature theme but children who struggle with moving between schools cities or states or who have friends who do so will surely relate however because there are no real villains and the journey takes them down some rabbit holes some viewers may find the story not as fluid and cohesive as others another positive theme involving some side characters is that of adoption Fix It Felix J and Sergeant Tamora who fell in love in the first movie decide to adopt 15 teenagers who lost their home when their game was unplug there are also a few Christian references like when Ralph says put on your church shoes Miracles and blessings are also mentioned and velope asks Ralph while looking up at the sky if there’s more to life that said vinal op’s fulfillment in life in the end isn’t a spiritual or relational one regrettably Ralph breaks the internet is loads of fun and many families will enjoy it there are some cautions for light innuendos some scenes that take place in an intense game reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto and other thematic elements read the content section for more details Ralph breaks the internet is a 28 attack all chasing after velou to keep her for themselves Ralph saves her and attempts to lure the Clones into a firewall but they form a giant Ralph monster Ralph Cilla that seizes them both Ralph comes to accept that velou can make her own choices letting go of his insecurities this also causes ralphzilla and the Clones to disappear and Ralph and velou reconcile Ralph gives half of the broken shown including the battle bus and the floss dance stanlee Marvel Comics former writer editor and publisher makes a cameo appearance in the film Lee died some days before for the film’s premiere making his appearance in Ralph breaks the internet one of his final cameos in films the filmmakers revealed that the film originally featured a joke about kylo Ren being a spoiled child which was later cut from the film by request from Lucas film because it would undermine his role as a villain also cut from the film was C3 Poe being mockingly called R2D2 and bb8 by the princesses additionally the film would originally include the Golden Girls characters but it was later cut because the directors felt it was a bizarre juxtaposition the Legion of Ralph clones which forms a gigantic Ralph monster resembles the King Kong character from various films during production the giant monster form was dubbed Ralph Silla after Godzilla development in September 20112 2 months before wet Ralph was released Rich Moore said that there were already ideas for a Sequel and in March 2013 Moore said that he and Disney had ideas about a sequel that would bring the characters up to date and explore online gaming and console gaming Moore stated that many of the crew and voice cast were open to the sequel believing that they have barely scratched the surface of the Video Game World they envisioned he also stated that he planned to include Tron in the sequel which appears briefly in the film where Ralph and velou race at the beginning in 2014 the first film’s composer Henry Jackman said that a story for the sequel was being written in March 2016 Moore stated that a sequel was still being planned in June 2016 Walt Disney Animation Studios announced that the sequel would be released on March 9 2018 with Moore and Phil Johnston attached and that its story would be one where Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the internet in March 2017 the sequel’s title was officially announced as Ralph breaks the internet Wreck-It Ralph 2 with more returning as director joined by the first film’s co-writer Johnston and Clark Spencer also returning as producer in July 2018 Disney removed recit Ralph 2 from the film’s title writing two working versions of the script had been scrapped before settling on the one used for the film according to head writer Josie Trinidad in one version velou had become self-absorbed by the internet gaining popularity and becoming a celebrity among the users Ralph had been thrown in jail where he met the search engine noore and they had partnered together to escape prison and help bring velou back to her normal self a second version had Ralph becoming an internet famous celebrity and would have been challenged by an antivirus program named Bev that served as a super cop and would have been the story’s villain Trinidad said neither of these versions captured what they felt was the centerpiece of the sequel being how Ralph and velou reacted to the new world of the internet and realizing they have separate paths going forward producer Clark Spencer said that the film is about change two best friends are about to realize that the world won’t always be the same the internet is the perfect setting really because it’s all about change things change by the second director of story Jim reardan said that was intimidating to set the film on the internet stating that they looked at how they could make the internet relatable on a human level like how Game Central Station AK the power strip mirrored a train station in the first movie Rear it however said that Disney didn’t want to make the movie about the internet instead focus on Ralph and vayal op’s friendship and to treat the internet as the place where the movie takes place Josie Trinidad claimed that the filmmakers didn’t want to just just give the audience more of that friendship people had to see that relationship grow the designs of scenes within the internet were based on tours made of one Wilshire in Los Angeles as it is one of the world’s largest telecommunications centers the filmmakers did not approach any of the companies outside of Disney that are represented on the internet and strove to include net branding from all across the world they also had to explore various internet memes making sure to avoid those that lacked long-term presence on the internet while the film addresses many positive elements of the internet the filmmakers did not want to shy away from covering some of the more unpleasant aspects about it in part fueled by the success of tackling racism indirectly within zootopia they wanted to follow the same approach as they had with Judy hops in zootopia where she experienced learned and overcame the racism aspects and have Ralph similarly learn and become a better person without having to actually solve the issue of hostility on the internet the scene where vanelope is introduced to the Disney Princesses came from screenwriter Pamela ribbon in 2014 ribbon was still working on Mona when Disney began internally pitching ideas for the sequel to Wreck it Ralph ribbon recognized that like the title character of Mona velou fits the definition of a Disney princess when work formally began on the sequel after the completion of zootopia ribbon pitched the idea of Disney poking fun at Itself by having velou meet the other Disney princesses in The Green Room of Maad Disney C the Disney fan driven website further inspiration came from a buzzfeed online quiz that asked which Disney Princess the user was more thought it would be interesting if Ralph had encountered that quiz and ended up in an argument with velou over the result the script was written by ribbon which she wanted to include the various tropes of the princesses with them making in the final cut for the film Moore and Johnston were satisfied with the script casting in July 2015 John C Riley said he had signed on to reprise his role of Ralph in a projected sequel in March 2017 Jane Lynch Jack mcra and Sarah Silverman were reported as being set to reprise their roles in December 2016 Alan tutk confirmed his return in the sequel as a different character named noore after previously voicing King Candy in the first film during production Moore invited film composer Michael jakino to reprise his role as the Stormtrooper FN 328 from Star Wars the Force awakens in the film in August 2018 actress gal gadat joined the cast as shank the production team on the film was able to secure all the Disney princess’s original voice actresses except for Adriana klotti as Snow White Eileen Woods as Cinderella and Mary Costa as Aurora due to the forers having both died in 1997 and 2010 respectively while the latter retired from acting in twn citation needed Jennifer hail and Kate Higgins the current voice actresses for Cinderella and Aurora were hired for the film Pamela ribbon the film’s co-screenwriter performed Snow White’s voice for temporary tracks but the teen considered it a good substitute allowing ribbon to voice her in the final film animation the film contains over 150 unique sets and five 726 assets and includes the highest number of characters in any Disney Animation film with 434 individual characters with six 752 variants one of the Disney animators who helped out to bring the Disney Princesses into CGI animation was Mark hen who was also the original supervising animator of princess’s aeriel Bell Jasmine Mulan and Tiana hen also served as the supervising animator for the film’s background hand drawn animated characters animators had to work out various techniques to take the different styles of Animation into a single approach and figure out the proportions of the characters using official figurines unlike their original film counterparts the Disney princesses in the film were rendered in a more cartoony Style with bigger eyes and ears in the initial trailer for the film the African-American princess character Tiana appeared to have a lighter skin tone a narrower nose and more European features than she did in the 29 film The Princess and the Frog this led to some backlashes on social media as these Drew her appearance away from that expected of African-Americans as a result Disney contacted chana’s voice actress anaka Noni Rose and the advocacy group color of change to redesign Tiana for Ralph breaks the internet to make sure she resembles more closely to her 2009 appearance the updated character model was revealed in the second trailer the same treatment was given to pah hontas the titular character of the 1995 film as many viewers had pointed out that she was also given a much lighter skin tone a scene featured in the film’s original teaser released in March 2018 involving Ralph and velou invading a children’s game and feeding pancakes takes to a bunny to the point that it is implied to explode was heavily discussed prior to the film’s release however the scene was eventually cut from the film and instead placed halfway through the credits with the addition of a meta conversation where one of the characters alludes to having just watched a movie where a scene from the trailer was missing the post credit scene involves what starts as a teaser for Frozen Roman 2 but cuts to Ralph Rick Rolling the Audience by starting to sing Rick Ashley’s Never Going To Give You Up while producers Spencer and Moore had an idea of Ralph doing a wreck role early on in the film’s development they never Incorporated it into the story as it was one of the last scenes added the producers had gotten Riley who was on vacation with his family at the time to come into a New York City studio to record for the day so that the animators could work from that music and soundtrack on September 19th 2018 Imagine Dragons released the lead single from the soundtrack titled zero which plays during the end credits of the film on October 23 2018 the music video of Zero was posted on Imagine Dragons YouTube channel the film features an original song called a place called Slaughter race performed by Sarah Silverman and Gal Gadot written by Tom McDougall and the film’s able reviews audiences ped by cinemascore gave the film an average grade of a on an A plus to f scale down from the air and by the first film and those at postra gave the film four stars out of five bill jabiri of the New York Times gave the film a positive review saying that somewhere amid the film’s ornate imagery and deliriously irreverent humor we might begin to realize that we’re watching a terrifying incisive satire about the ways that life lived online makes Monsters of us all Brian Lori of CNN said that the colorful action should Delight Tikes but the smart media Savvy asdes make it especially appealing to grown-ups Carrie LEL of the Arizona Republic gave the film three and a half stars out of five saying what makes the movie compelling despite the subdued dramatic payoff is that it is a heightened reflection of our experience our love affair really with our gadgets our apps and yes Our Brands Peter har lob of the San Francisco Chronicle gave the film three stars out of four stating that the film is almost always inspired in the moment and said that the new characters are all pretty great though he said that the film’s first third struggles to find its focus and felt that Felix and Calhoun subplot would have worked better as a pre-movie animated short Chris bum of jao’s movie Emporium said that the film is just as solid as the first film and said it was compared to the science fiction film Ready Player One Brian Bishop of the Verge described the film as the Lego movie of Disney films stating that it Soares when it sends up the Studio’s own films but its portrayal of the internet feels a little optimistic for T9 Oliver Jones of the New York Observer gave the film a 2 and a half score saying that Ralph breaks the internet is a candy coated hard shined brick of postmodernism a Vitamix smoothie of gags Nostalgia product placement and Fruity Pebbles Alonso dalala of furp said that within a few years the specifics of the viral video gags in Ralph breaks the internet will be as dated as a t zande joke Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian said that the sequel to The 20112 film is somewhere between Ready Player 1 and the Emoji Movie summoning up a zero gravity spectacle of dazzling colors and anous perspectives a featureless and inert mashup of memes Brands avatars and jokes future directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston said that a Ralph breaks the internet spin-off film focusing on the Disney Princesses could be made depending on the audience’s response and if there’s a good story to be told also John C Riley says that he has an idea if a third film was to be made he would consider seeing Ralph and V op beaming themselves right out into space Ralph breaks the Internet movie review after a clunky few scenes that seen content to recall the first film more than expand on it Ralph breaks the internet the sequel to Tony 12’s beloved Wreck-It Ralph really opens up and delivers for kids and adults it even becomes the rare product of the Hollywood machine that questions some of the lessons that have come before it particularly in relation to the myth of the Disney princess but also with a wellone theme that offers a richer truth than a lot of family entertainment as a parent of three boys trust me when I tell you that a lot of kids movies are about getting people together to form a team stop a bad guy solve a problem Etc and no one is denying the importance of team building as a lesson for kids but Ralph breaks the internet dares to encourage kids to not only be themselves but allow their friends to be true to their want wants and needs as well your friend doesn’t have to be exactly like you to be your friend it’s a message that’s very well threaded through an entertaining clever ride unlike Incredibles 2 which compressed real world time to produce a sequel that picked up immediately after the action of the first film six years have gone by in the world of Ralph John C Riley and velop Sarah Silverman the former villain is happy with his routine of working in his game in lit wax arcade during the day and hanging out with his best bud at night they even get some Recreation time in the Tron game and hang out at tappers to drink root beer Felix Jack mcra and calhon Jane Lynch are back as well but this is all mere prologue to the bulk of the film which unfolds when lit whac plugs in a Wi-Fi router seeking something more adventurous than her repetitive tracks in Sugar Rush as well as a new wheel to fix her broken game vinal ope races off to the mythical internet and Ralph follows just as the first Wreck-It Ralph allowed for consistent references to the world of arcade games sending its protagonists to the internet allows for a regular flow of jokes and Easter eggs for adults and kids the design of the internet here looks a little like the future Sky cities of the fifth element with avatars of realworld users racing in every direction those exhausted by real business branding in family films may want to turn away as the creators of Ralph have Blended their reality with our own resulting in numerous shots of real logos for companies like Amazon eBay and Pinterest alongside made up ones like noore and a hit game called Slaughter race that GTA inspired racing game is where velou discovers that her skills are going to waste in Sugar Rush she might want more of her digital life than Ralph and the internet promises New Opportunities there are a number of smart themes woven through Ralph breaks the internet in ways that kids may not fully grasp but are open for conversations they can have with their parents after unlike soulless product placement films like the Emoji Movie the writers here grapple with the concept of the internet as an amplifier for good and bad without spoiling the Final Act of Ralph breaks the internet hinges on how the internet broadcasts vinal opes And Ralph’s insecurities something it arguably has the power to do for everyone of course kids will go for the action and comedy both of which are here in abundance even if the script feels like it could have used a little tightening 112 minutes is pretty lengthy for an animated adventure for the most part Ralph breaks the internet is astute and funny especially in a fantastic subplot involving velou meeting the Disney Princesses the heroins from films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Tangled pacah hontas The Little Mermaid and many more they tell her how they break into song when they’re sad usually while looking at a body of water and how often they need men to save them it’s an incredibly witty scene that wrestles with Disney’s Legacy when the filmmakers could have just included another tribute to the company that pays their bills Ralph breaks the internet works best when it takes risks like that so many family filmmakers think they need to take as few risks as possible offering easily digestible content that parents can use as a babysitter more than a teaching tool but Ralph breaks the internet works because it doesn’t Pander and it doesn’t simplify in the first movie Ralph learned he was more than a bad guy in this one he learns that it’s okay to want variety and stand out from the crowd if only more animators could learn the same lesson as Ralph other information about this film after going from 8 bids Zer to Arcade hero during his original outing Wreck-It Ralph levels up in a big way with Ralph breaks the internet an ambitious allaround satisfying sequel to Walt Disney animations wonderfully outside the box smash that ranks among the Studio’s very best Tunes it’s a poignant buddy movie that’s sincere in all the right places but knows better than to take itself too seriously while the 2012 project was an inspired example of easily expandable World building this more clever than expected follow-up skips the obvious Next Step simply exploring the other games that share the same power strip and sets out to conquer the relative vastness of cyberspace instead that’s a lofty goal for any sequel further Complicated by the fact that reformed bad guy Ralph voiced by lovable lug John C Riley has made friends with fellow Misfit velou Von schweet Sarah Silverman which calls for an all new Dynamic part of of what made Wreck-It Ralph so much fun was the way director Rich Moore a Simpsons Alum subverted the wholesome kid-friendly world of singing princesses and their predictable fairy tale adventures in favor of irreverent fun with characters that Gen X viewers might recognize as being inspired by the video games of their childhood this time around Moore shares directing duties with Phil Johnston who co-wrote the original with returning screenwriter Pamela ribbon and together they tackle the challenge of finding an intuitive way to depict the web that will be recognized worldwide and for years to come the creative team’s answer is less Tron than Sleek 22nd century Tokyo a futuristic super City where floating information super highways snake through virtual skyscrapers while Billboards and popup ads tout practically every family appropriate brand you can think of which was plainly some clearance lawyer worst nightmare after some using late night interactions between the video game characters at lit wax arcade The Ensemble gathers to examine the latest addition to the already overloaded surge protector a Wi-Fi router that looms as menacingly as Buzz Lightyear did to a room full of outdated play things in Toy Story just as the new device arrives a malfunction to the Sugar Rush game forces velou and her fellow Racers to flee prompting the quest that will send the Glitchy princess who who flickers whenever she’s feeling insecure and her temperamental besti out in search of a replacement part before litwack Ed O’Neal pulls the plug like Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player one earlier this year the internet as Metropolis metaphor vastly oversimplifies what it’s trying to illustrate which may date this sequel somewhat in the long run though it feels perfectly fresh for the moment allowing reformed villain Ralph to become both a viral video sensation and a computer virus at various points in the story besides the object here is to playfully Riff on the way people use the internet contrasting all that these sites have to offer from online auctions to autocomplete search engines with a frustration of figuring out how everything works in the absence of an experienced adult for parents worried about how their kids use the web Ralph breaks the internet sounds a note of mild caution reinforcing the importance of understanding the sites one VIs social media commenters are depicted as potentially toxic and eBay can be dangerous in their naive Ralph and vanelope accidentally wind up bidding do 27 A1 making one nostalgic for the day when the worst a child could do was run up a phone bill calling 1 1900 hotlines to listen to recordings of Hulk Hogan or the Backstreet Boys woful ill prepared for the internet the two old school arcade characters come across as a couple of country bumpkins overwhelmed by the big city by this point velou has already been nursing doubts about her place in the universe questioning whether there could be more to life than doing endless laps around the same tracks on the internet she discovers Slaughter race a more grown-up Grand Theft Auto style driving game where she’s finally able to pit her Daredevil driving skills against someone as well matched to her tricks that would be shank gal gadat a strong female role model who does wonders for her self-confidence it’s a crime infested hellhole but to velope it’s Paradise inspiring her hilariously unconventional I want song and one of the movie’s standout sequences a place called Slaughter race whenever a CG character suffers an existential crisis of this magnitude the creators are cribbing from the Pixar Playbook even though this movie was made by the folks that Disney John Lasser gets a credit but was on leave for the final year of production it adheres far closer to the feel-good formula of its noral cousins in this case that’s an asset considering how much of the original film’s Renegade Spirit remains as in the openly satirical approach the sequel takes towards so many other Disney Brands the princesses in particular while Ralph discovers how easily a reformed meanie can become a meme veal ope Ventures over to the OM my Disney virtual world where she spots several Star Wars characters and the obligatory newly poignant Stanley Cameo there living happily ever after in a posh Lounge she stumbles on Disney royalty now Idol celebrities Anna and Elsa Ariel Aurora Bell Cinderella Jasmine Mona milen pah hontas Snow White and Tiana all but the eldest voiced by the original performers ribbon subs for Snow White even Kelly McDonald who embodied Brave for the other Studio drops in earning laughs by making Merida Scottish brogue all but unintelligible looking at vanelope who’s a Disney princess to albeit an unconventional one surrounded by these icons fans May flash back to the poster for Lilo and Stitch which featured the Studio’s most recognizable characters recoiling from the Oddball alien there’s one in Every Family the tagline read 16 years later Ralph breaks the internet delivers on that notion celebrating the joys of being the black sheep even as it preaches a fresh understanding of friendship vayal op’s the first to understand that lesson while Ralph is distracted by the joys of becoming an internet sensation making clickbait videos for hype Master yes Terra GP Hensen on Buzz tube many of which were used to promote the film itself Earl when fickle audiences lose interest Ralph gets desperate venturing into the dark net for a shortcut that will exploit his insecurities and you guessed it break the internet things could have spiraled out of control in this last act as a swarm of tiny Ralphs who was Loosely modeled after Donkey Kong in the first place combined to form a massive King Kong like Mega Monster in this Virtual City of course Google owns the equivalent of the Empire State Building making it the logical place to Stage the final showdown luckily the jokes keep coming even as the film takes this potentially intense turn giving all those princesses a chance to flip the script on their traditional gender roles Trace Disney animated features back to their Roots as many an academic has and one can find plenty of sexist and racist problems though the studio has taken a proactive role in trying to correct that over the past decade or so culminating in 2016’s brilliant C we all just get a long Parable zootopia Ralph is a disruptor by Design and in many ways he’s the ideal character to bring about the next seismic shift creating a space where the studio can poke fun at itself while presenting a more enlightened narrative for fans the movie isn’t all laughs however managing to surprise at times by how nuanced the animation can be who would have thought that while breaking the internet Ralph might be breaking our hearts as well positive elements Ralph breaks the internet focuses on the theme of of how friendships evolve over time and it suggests that sometimes you have to step back and give friends space to make their own choices even choices you don’t agree with velou for instance decides that she wants to race in an online game that’s dangerous and destructive Ralph hates the idea but after several attempts to change her mind he steps aside we got a trust her Ralph suggests because that’s what best friends do all friendships change someone else adds but the good ones they get stronger because of it as this movie’s title suggests it’s not long before Wreck-It Ralph breaks the internet setting off a digitally destructive chain of events after he realizes what he’s done Ralph puts his own existence on the line to save velou she does the same Ralph and velou eventually Express their platonic love for each other as dear friends when the Sugar Rush game goes down Felix and his wife Calhoun two married characters from two other games decide to adopt all of that broken game’s Young Racers and give them a solid home another game character warns I know that you’ve been married 6 months and you want to spice things up but adopting 15 kids is not the right spice however we later see that all of those rambunctious kid Racers have become better and more caring people because of their adoptive family environment the movie also suggests in a cautionary way that internet users can easily waste far too many hours watching nonsensical detritus online Ralph in fact even tries to monetize that human desire for silly stuff as he’s in need of money to buy that coveted part and make some videos of his own but when Ralph checks the comment feed on his videos he sees many negative and hurtful comments that internet trolls have left calling him a worthless bum and the like this place can bring out the worst in some people Ralph is told spiritual elements after adopting those 15 Racers Felix nervously says now I’m the father of 15 kids isn’t that a blessing when heading off to the internet Ralph tells velou put on your church shoes little sister sexual content Ralph and velou find their way into a racing game called Slaughter race and the big boss there is a female character named shank who wears a form-fitting leather outfit violent content shank who’s tough as Nails ushers vinal ope into a gritty game that’s set in a dark and dirty Urban underworld it’s a trash strewn place where Racers crash their cars Vehicles explode rubbish Burns in heaps and a shark pops out of a manhole to swallow a fierce looking dog two avatars get crisped by flamethrowers off screen those visuals though are all still pretty cartoony and the dying characters return for another try still Ralph shares his negative opinion of Shanks races saying those games rot your brains apart from that game in particular we see an ongoing Carousel of thumping tumbling swirling violence centered around Ralph and velou they fall into and over things in the internet and they’re sent stumbling about or racing through that fast-paced world when a computer virus multiplies Ralph’s insecurities into an army of bumbling destructive Ralphs things get a little perilous for the friends a cute video game character eats so much that it explodes offscreen causing a human child who’s playing the game on a tablet to cry out in fear crude or profane language along with a couple exclamations of good Lord we also hear uses of what the heck gosh dang it oh my gosh and mother hubard drug and alcohol content Ralph and a friend drink mugs of root beer in a pub likee game called tappers other negative elements we hear a number of poop and butt jokes as well as phrases such as farting is such sweet sorrow and see ya stink brain conclusion movies are at their best when instead of telling you what you should be thinking or feeling about something they ask you to consider certain ideas is instead and that’s definitely where Ralph breaks the internet gets it right at the end of the first film in this Disney franchise Wreck-It Ralph the titular herob bad guy walked away convinced that he didn’t have to be defined by his job I.E being a building crushing villain in a video game instead he was defined by the self-sacrificial choices he made and the friendships he formed but is that enough this sequel asks it then prompts us to ponder several other parallel questions what do you do when your friendships change what if you discover that your friends aren’t really all that nice where do you fit when do you walk away what makes you you those are solid questions for kids to chew over with parents and Pals on the ride home from the theater and as it asks questions like those this pick also takes a couple humor packed swings at issues such as cyber bullying and being consumed by a viral video world even the Disney princesses all 11 of them get into the act of comically challenging convention and I for one would love to see a Disney princess team up pick in the very near future that said there’s Ralph’s other mega-sized muddy boot to be aware of two he and velou are constantly tag teaming potty puns butt jokes and all manner of name calling Giggles while on their Adventure through the internet and those things no doubt will like likely be the first things your kids talk about on the ride home what you need to know Ralph breaks the internet is a hilarious imaginative heartfelt sequel to Disney’s wrecked Ralph about the arcade villain who doesn’t want to be the villain but wants to be the hero in the sequel Ralph has to help his best friend velope save the game where she lives by going into the internet to buy a spare part on eBay in the internet Ralph and velope are exposed to A Whole New World with both good and bad parts while in the internet their relationship is tested and Ralph must overcome his own insecurities Ralph breaks the internet is very clever in its exploration of the internet with tongue-in-cheek jokes about Disney technology and our media obsessed culture there are strong moral messages about not holding friends back from following their passions loyalty courage and even the beautiful Act of adoption the movie also contains positive Christian references Ralph breaks the internet is loads of fun and many families will enjoy it caution is advised for younger children for light innuendos scenes occurring in an intense game and other thematic elements content dominant worldview and other worldview contentments very strong moral worldview stresses not holding friends back from following their passions loyalty courage adoption and family with positive Christian references and themes of self-sacrifice character says to put on your church shoes and references to Miracles and blessings plus some light romantic politically correct feminist undertones where Disney Princess Characters joke about always needing to be saved by men foul language one light good Lord exclamatory profanity a possibly muffled light OMG profanity character says gosh dang it and characters burp violence light animated violence includes an exciting car chase in a game similar to the violent Grand Theft Auto game with edgy characters who look intense but actually are really nice a shark eats a dog and people appear to be looting in the background Ralph buys a virus to destroy a game that looks like a scary metallic snake a giant monster made up of Ralph replicas creates Mayhem and tries to capture the lead characters more detail Ralph breaks the internet is a hilarious imaginative heartfelt sequel to Disney’s hit movie wreck at Ralph about the arcade villain who doesn’t want to be the villain of a game anymore but wants to be the hero in this sequel Ralph and his best friend vanelope a character in the racing arcade Sugar Rush do everything together every day after all the humans have left the arcade Ralph meets up with velou where they drink root beer play games together and just have lots of fun Ralph is perfectly content with his life but velou is a thrill seeking adventurer who feels there’s something more out there for her one day the arcade owner plugs in a wireless Internet modem just like that Ralph and velou here about a huge World beyond their arcade when vinal op’s arcade machine breaks while a child was turning the steering wheel too hard they discover there’s a spare part on a website called eBay Ralph decides to go with vinal OP into the strange new world of the internet to find her gains broken part so they can return to their normal lives the internet World they enter looks like a ginormous city where the biggest buildings are the biggest online entities like Google Facebook Amazon and others of course there’s all sorts of dangers in this internet City too like people who shove quick Rich popup ads in your face and viruses when Ralph and vanelope go to eBay to get her games steering wheel they learned they need $1300 to buy it and only have 24 hours to pay so they set out to try to earn some quick money so they can save vanal op’s arcade on their journey together Ralph and vanal op’s friendship is tested and stretched also velou starts to realize a dream that goes beyond the arcade she’s always known Ralph breaks the internet is hilariously imaginative entertaining fun the world of the internet interet and how humans interact with and use the internet is explored in Creative funny poignant ways for example at one point with the help of a character named yes Ralph decides to make money by becoming an internet sensation and making viral videos similar to the videos that go viral today at another Point vayal ope visits Disney where she runs into all of the Disney movie princesses in addition to Star Wars Marvel and Muppets characters the tongue and cheek humor as well as the technological references clearly cater toward adult viewers however children are sure to enjoy seeing some of their favorite animated characters pop up in one movie along with being funny and smart the movie is deeply emotional and may have adults reaching for tissues thematically the movie’s Jeopardy is tied up in the friendship between Ralph and vou all of Ralph’s self-worth lies in the fact that he’s a hero to vou so then she feels she’ll be happier living in the internet it wrecks Ralph’s World it’s a classic Man vs himself tale which isn’t a common story for animated movies the underlying message is that insecurity and codependence is toxic for friendships and any relationship for that matter it’s a fairly mature theme but children who struggle with moving between schools cities or states or who have friends who do so will surely relate however because there are are no real villains and the journey takes them down some rabbit holes some viewers may find the story not as fluid and cohesive as others another positive theme involving some side characters is that of adoption Fix It Felix jar and Sergeant Tamora who fell in love in the first movie decide to adopt 15 teenagers who lost their home when their game was unplugged there are also a few Christian references like when Ralph says put on your church shoes Miracles and blessings are also mentioned and velou asks Ralph while looking up at the sky if there’s more to life that said vanal op’s fulfillment in life in the end isn’t a spiritual or relational one regrettably Ralph breaks the internet is loads of fun and many families will enjoy it there are some cautions for light inuendos some scenes that take place in an intense game reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto and other thematic elements read the content section for more details this film directed by Rich Moore Phil Johnston screenplay by Phil Johnston pamer ribbon Story by Rich Moore Phil
