Zoe Saldana’s Tribute to Nicole Kidman | AFI Life Achievement 2024 | TNT

Ladies and gentlemen, Zoe Saldana. Nicole, my sister from another mother. Okay, maybe we’re not actually sisters, but in so many ways, I aspire to be more like you. Taller. I also wish I could take 20 minute naps on the fly and then wake up and be totally regenerated. And I really wish I could do what you do all the time. Engage in conversation on set, and then the moment the director calls action be 100% in character. Trust me, it’s hard being on a project with Nicole. You find yourself watching her completely in awe of her transformation, and then you have to snap out of it and remind yourself that if you don’t want to be lost in this scene, you better bring your A-game because she does it every moment the camera is on. Which brings me to my favorite Nicole Kidman film. It is the first film I saw her in Dead Calm and another favorite, Moulin Rouge! Dogville, Cold Mountain, Rabbit Hole, Flirting, The Interpreter, Bewitched, Australia, The Paperboy, Destroyer, Bombshell, Being the Ricardos, The Peacemaker. I’m getting out of breath, you guys. There’s like 25 more. The Hours. Eyes wide Shut. The last two films, The Hours and Eyes Wide Shut. My God, can we just get a freaking. These two films speak to a truly defines her brilliance as an artist, and it’s this she has always marched to the beat of her own drum. Well, she’s a Gemini, come on, and she’s brave that way, always willing to take risks with the roles she chooses in her career. So, Nicole, that bravery you show in everything you do is just one of the many reasons I admire you. And I love you. Congratulations.
