Byron Bowers has boarded the ensemble of the Marvel and Disney+ series Wonder Man. He joins Yahya Abdul-Mateen II who will star in the titular role. It is unknown who Bowers will play.

Daniel Destin Cretton will direct multiple episodes as will Stella Meghie. Andrew Guest is head writer. Cretton also exec produces along with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Wonder Man was introduced to Marvel Comics in 1964 via The Avengers #9. The character otherwise known as Simon Williams is the son of the industrialist Sanford Williams and assumes control of his munitions outfit following his passing, seeing its successes limited when it comes into competition with Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. The younger Williams gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, while working under the villainous Baron Zemo and establishing himself as an antagonist to The Avengers, though he later decides to become part of that superhero team.

Bowers will next be seen in the Alma Har’el directed Limited Series Lady In The Lake, starring alongside Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. He was a consulting producer on the project, as the series is set amongst racial and socioeconomic tensions in 1960s Baltimore. The series premieres July 19th on Apple TV+.

Other credits for Bowers include Amazon’s Swarm and the Showtime series The Chi. He is repped by WME, Range Media Partners, and Garrett Legal.
