Amy Adams & The Curse Of Being Nice, Talented And… Overlooked 🏆😥

Amy Adams is a screen icon who is beloved for her immense talent onscreen and her kind persona in real life – but something that’s become a major part of her image is the fact that, even though she has played so many amazing roles (and is even seen by many as one of the great actors of her generation) she’s won zero Oscars. Of course, awards aren’t everything – and the fact that she hasn’t won doesn’t erase her great body of work – but it does make one wonder: what is it that’s kept her from being fully recognized? In an interesting way, Amy’s struggle mirrors the career frustrations of many talented women. So let’s take a deeper look at what’s really going on…

  1. Thanks for watching! 😄 Let us know: your favorite Amy Adams role + one other actress you think deserves an Oscar
& Next up, check out our recent video on a heartwarming trope, enemies to besties (& why it's even better than frenemies!) Watch here: https://youtu.be/YlY6WENcK8U

  2. Amy Adams is one of my favourite actresses, it's such a shame that she keeps getting passed over for Oscars. It'll come to the point where they'll end up gifting her an honourary Oscar.

  3. Amy Adams is the Deborah Kerr of her generation. She definitely should have won for "Arrival", her performance was simply wonderful. ❤

  4. Awards aren't everything indeed, but it pisses me of how we act as if the Oscars are the be all end all of film recognition, even in other countries. They're mostly about commercial cinema of the US and of course they've tried to be more inclusive lately. But you watch movies from other countries and you immediately realize how much acting technique, story telling, visual style and experimentation is going on in in other places

  5. I haven't seen too many of her films, but her role in Enchanted as Giselle is brilliantly acted, and it's one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. I would have nominated her for that movie alone. She deserved it and still does.

  6. Donald Sutherland not only never won an Oscar, he was NEVER nominated for one. He was given an Academy Honorary Award in 2017, but that doesn't count. There's another video for The Take to make.
