Despite the defeat in the semifinals, Cindy can go home proud knowing that she’s brought back a medal and hope for team refugee.

“She has demonstrated to the world what refugees can achieve; she has been an inspiration to a population of more than 120 million people and given light to our stories, our journeys. For that, we are forever grateful.”-Masomah Ali Zada, Chef de Mission for the Paris 2024 Refugee Olympic Team.

Hopefully, this historic win will give her the citizenship she deserves and is long overdue for. Cindy has lived in the UK since she was 11.
