This is such bullshit imo. The three of them can split the bronze (and the judges should be disciplined, and judging changes should be made). I’m completely heartbroken and furious for Jordan Chiles

This would be a huge misstep for the IOC. Gymnastics has had so many feel good moments and this would put such a downer. The Olympic twitter feed literally has the photo of the floor podium as its pinned tweet.

Why can’t they share? In the 2002 Olympics, there was the judging scandal in the Pairs Skating which ended up resulting in the Canadian team sharing the Gold Medal with the Russian team.

This is so infuriating. It seems so cruel to let Jordan think she won the bronze medal for the better part of a week, only to snatch it back, through no fault of her own. There’s been so much racism thrown at America and so much xenophobia thrown at Romania… just disqualify/ban all the fans and let both girls have bronze. Not their fault the judges kept effing up.

FYI for others who haven’t been following gymnastics that closely – I wasn’t either lol – there were two Romanian girls appealing to CAS. One of them, Sabrina, was acting the fool on social media and was instigating/fanning the flames of racial abuse that Jordan was receiving. Her appeal was denied. Ana, the one whose appeal was successful, has been nothing but kind/gracious. Just need to make that clear because I’ve seen a lot of abuse hurled at Ana from Americans who think that she and Sabrina are one and the same.

I hope those judges are fired immediately. They are the ones who need to take accountability and be the ones under fire..not the athletes!!! This is unfair to both of them but especially Jordan. I’m disgusted..

As others have pointed out, there is a history of people splitting/sharing medals in other sports. Does someone know if medal splitting in response to a dispute has happened in gymnastics before? IIRC each sport in the Olympics has different rules according to the specific sporting federation in charge. Maybe the FIG is particularly/notoriously hardnosed about this sort of thing?

(Let both girls have bronze, you cowards.)
