Are we surprised about any of this? I’m already over this whole mess. Aside from the feud between the two, wasn’t the movie’s marketing controversial as well due to how they portrayed domestic violence? I just can’t see the public really rallying behind a sequel.

It’s so funny that Variety can’t explain the feud and are are reduced to exasperatedly saying that “nobody could articulate any legitimate transgressions by either party.” Also amusing that “sources close to Ryan Reynolds” had to hurriedly explain that his unusual writing input came just before the writer’s strike and definitely not during it.

Ultimately this will be decided by money. Baldoni owns the rights, but a sequel isn’t viable without Lively. If a sequel doesn’t get made neither gets paid. My guess is that ultimately Sony and/or Lively buy control from Baldoni, but he also retains his cut of the box office.

good. maybe there was a positive to all this drama and that’s that the world doesn’t have to be burdened with a sequel to this fuckass series

Maybe he’ll adapt Verity next? I’m sure the prop work with the teeth marks in the headboard and the big baby balls will be incredible lmao

I googled this trying to understand what the issue is and I still don’t have a clue. Like Blake Lively was advertising the movie in a non serious way despite it being about a serious topic? and the other person called her out or something?

  6. I wouldn’t want to work with someone who tried to end my fucking career either. I was just waiting the entire time for something heinous to come out about Justin Baldoni..and it just didn’t. What came out was a big nothing burger.

  7. They should make a movie about this feud. Far more interesting than any Hoover novel.

I’m going to be pissed when her PR oscar is handed to her. There’s no doubt in my mind her team is working hard at that for her “relaunch”

  9. love that Variety actually checked in with the WGA about these shady rewrites. Journalism!

If Dakota Johnson and Jamie Doran can get through completing three 50 Shades of Grey films, anything is possible.

  11. oh male rights activists are already here i see

p.s. i will not be silenced every month you invent new men and are ready to go to war for them if it means you get to dogpile on women

This movie cost 25M to produce and made 240M, making it one of the most profitable movies this year.

IDK,seems like they truly hate each other but for that kind of money wouldn’t it be worth it to reach some kind of a deal for the sequel?

I’m wondering how much money I would be willing to lose to not work again with someone I despise lol.
