I guess this is a hot take but. I think stans are insane but I also think this isn’t good for her and she shouldn’t continue down the path of fame anymore.

I feel so bad for her. She’s doing what she loves, but at what cost? And consistently she gets such a nasty attitude for daring to ever want a career in the first place. Some people are so willfully ignorant thinking she wanted this, acting like there aren’t varying levels of fame.

She clearly didn’t want this and I wish there was a clear path forward for her to do what she loves without inappropriate stans or the constant victim blaming mentality thrown at her. At least I’ve been practicing my “Omg it’s Chappell Roan” look away so I don’t ever bother her in my daydreams of bumping into her at Walmart

  3. the old/new age question: how do you market yourself as accessible and ‘one of us’ and not attract stalkers and inappropriate fans. Hopefully in a few years the only thing we hear about her is the occasional theater production or guest collab. Doesn’t seem the current arc is going to be good for her mental health.

You’d think if she’s spent so long aiming for a certain level, and gets it, she’d be more prepped for it? The theme of her framing lately is less on her / the music and just how much she hates it all / isn’t able for it. Shocking that none of her people have tried to get her any real help in managing it all, either literally or mentally, by now.

  5. Here’s a hot take on my part that will get me downvoted to oblivion : stalkers can go to hell. In the meantime, I hope they go to jail. No one is entitled to anything from another human being.

That being settled, Good God, she seems exhausting. She’s probably exhausted, too, which doesn’t help. If she doesn’t want fame, she is allowed to go back to being a “random bitch” and sing on TikTok. No one can stop her.

Also, I usually don’t really care about Sabrina Carpenter, but she seems like someone Chappell can rely on. She, too, has to handle an intense level of fame.

  6. I love her music but I honestly don’t know if she’s in this for the long haul. Throngs of adoring fans are par for the course of super stardom, for good or for ill

But also…if you feel overexposed, stop doing magazine covers and VMA shows and things that get you MORE exposure

Honestly stalking isn’t taken seriously even if you aren’t a famous—even though stalking is an indicator of future violent behavior. I wish they would do something about doxxing and publishing private info, like addresses and phone numbers. I don’t care who you are, that to me is part of the right to privacy. These are crimes and should be prosecuted and taken more seriously!

I find interesting how nobody is mentioning how she said that she doesn’t care if her friends are republican. Yesterday seemed to be a question of life or death

I genuinely cannot believe people are throwing attitude at her for being overwhelmed.

I enjoy her music but the way people refuse to act normal about her is something. She’s allowed to have thoughts and feelings about her rise without people reacting badly if she doesn’t respond like you think she should.

  10. The discourse shift around her in like one week is absolutely bonkers. Something Something putting on pedestals.

I’m so sick of Chappell. I’m sorry she’s being stalked—that is genuinely terrifying and unsettling for her, her closest friends and her family. However, I’m tired of hearing her complain about fame constantly. Chappell, I’ll trade with you! I could use millions of dollars 😭

  12. Hannah Montana was ON to something. I would absolutely wear a wig and heavy stage makeup like Dolly Parton and then walk around looking busted Irl to be normal. BUT they shouldn’t have to do that. I don’t understand fan behavior. I’ve seen multiple celebs living in a major big city and never once have I thought to take pictures or harass them. It’s like seeing anyone outside of work, that’s their personal life.

  13. All of the obsession with her on social media was getting on my nerves but reading this was really sad. She became an IT Girl and the public always turn on IT Girls or forgets about them after rabid consumption.

I feel like when Taylor said ‘you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me’, this was the asylum she was meaning- the music industry and everything that comes with it.

I feel for her, that sounds horrible and invasive and to have it happen quickly must be a massive adjustment.
