It’s sucks that she has to explicitly publicize the sexual abuse (non-consensual kiss from a fan) and stalking to illicit sympathy.
We should already know this isn’t normal because we wouldn’t do this to anyone else that we don’t know personally.
There were comments I noticed of people comparing their situation as cashiers and other public-facing roles to Chappell Roan’s situation, rationalizing why it’s okay to ask for pictures or speak to her while she’s (not in costume) walking on the street). It’s not the same!! Even if those individuals were okay with large crowds coming up to them randomly- they are also still a fundamentally different person than others. People who might be introverted or have stricter boundaries because of their past (or just who they are as a person).
People need to be a bit more empathetic. I think we’re losing that with society moving more and more online.
edit: I do want to say that I’m not a fan of Chappell Roan (even though I enjoy her music). I am much more annoyed with present day fan culture as a whole (despite some of its improvements from 20th century fan culture)
