Emmys Deliver Record Breakers and the Ultimate Question — Should ‘The Bear’ Move to Drama After Losing Comedy Series?

  1. The discourse about The Bear being a comedy is funnier than the actual show. The Bear’s legacy will be that it is not a comedy.

  2. Drama might just be tougher next year with The Last of Us and House of the Dragon showing up. Season 3 is might just be snubbed anyway.

Yes. But season 3 was so underwhelming I’m not sure it matters either way as far as actually winning, especially after tonight’s loss.

Hacks busting what would have been the only shot at The Bear winning Best Comedy again is 🧑‍🍳😘

Whatever it does, it shouldn’t be able to flipflop about it. I don’t agree that it is a comedy, but it shouldn’t be able to suddenly switch from comedy to drama just because it has a better chance in one than it does the other. The category it first submits for should be the category it has to stick with.

  6. The fact that they even won 3 categories in the comedy genre is a disgrace like where is the integrity. ATP just say “Ayo is in it so its a comedy” or something

  7. Yes! It needs to move to drama so that actual comedy shows and actors have a chance to win. It’s extremely unfair that they’re missing out because of category fraud. As much as I love The Bear, it really sucks that amazing comedic shows like Abbott Elementary miss out because of a show that isn’t even in the right category. I was very happy when an actual comedy show won tonight even if I hadn’t even watched the show before.

I would have put Succession in comedy before The Bear.
