Are we surprised? Late Night Television has lost it’s spark. People aren’t intrigued by it anymore and the interviews are awkward.
Jimmy Fallon is partly responsible for the dumbing down of entertainment. Making celebrities play games and jump through hoops is so annoying. He, James Corden and Ellen have to make everything Uwu and cutesy and it is hard to watch.
Nobody gives a shit about listening to celebrities prattling off some half-made up story to make them sound charismatic, likeable or witty and basically being fed a canned script about promoting their movie or tv show. Nor does anybody care to watch Jimmy Fallon, who is clearly a robot at this point, fake smile through it and pretend he likes his job. We can all see right through the pointless facade and it’s no longer entertaining.
The best marketing happens through organic interaction these days, mainly through word of mouth or via social media word of mouth. The talk show format is dead.
They can replace him by AI and no one will even notice.
His laugh, reactions and everything about his show is just as fake.
It’s because he’s kinda unappealing as a host since we live in an age where you don’t have to watch late night shows for celebrity interviews and promo and you don’t even have to watch them at night either, so people are just going to watch whoever they like if they want to…sometimes that’s Seth Meyers or Colbert or whatev and sometimes that’s Hot Ones. He is a good host for a different time, but we just aren’t really livin in that Letterman/Leno/Conan world where people are eternally loyal to one host and their guests and watch dutifully.
But imo he needs to step down and do what Conan did, podcast and make other shows or something like that. He definitely has fans but I think even a lot of his fans from his SNL days are kinda over the late night thing.
