On Tuesday afternoon, October 1, Queen Máxima officially opened the new building of the National Ballet Academy (NBA) in Amsterdam. The NBA is an international institution specializing in classical academic dance. This new location brings all students together under one roof. The building features seven large studios, one of which can serve as a theater hall.

The NBA is part of the Academy of Theatre and Dance, which belongs to the Amsterdam University of the Arts. It is the only dance academy in the Netherlands directly affiliated with the Dutch National Ballet. A key component of the NBA is its extensive seven-year preparatory program, where young students, starting from the age of ten, combine their ballet training with primary and secondary education. The school currently has 165 students.

Following several dance performances, Queen Máxima officially opened the National Ballet Academy. Afterwards, the Queen attended a classical ballet class for final-year students and observed a rehearsal of young dancers preparing for their roles. Queen Máxima also engaged in conversations with various students and teachers.
