During an appearance on Happy Sad Confused, host Josh Horowitz asked Ronan if she had been offered the role that ultimately was played by her Little Women co-star Florence Pugh.

“How did you hear about that?” Ronan asked Horowitz, playing coy to the rumors.

Horowitz added, “OK. I’ll take that that non-answer as an answer.” The host followed up asking Ronan if she had anything “against the Marvel stuff.”

“I can’t see myself doing Marvel,” she said. “I don’t… No, I would prefer to do Bond.”

Ronan continued, “There’s nothing wrong with [Marvel] and I think they’re brilliant films. I want to do more big movies. I’m at the point where I’ve done… I love making independent film, I really do, but to know — especially in this landscape that we’re in, in film right now — to know that a film is going to be seen is such a luxury.”

  1. I love Saoirse and respect this answer. I can’t imagine anyone playing this role other than Florence. She brought such little sister energy to the role, both hilarious and heartbreaking

I would love to see her as a Bond villain. With or without Jack Lowden as Bond.

  3. I respect her choice. Saoirse really is a good actress and I like to see her in other different works rather than being Marvel.

Girl run, I get it. I’d like to see her as Yelena though for fun and a check. 🤷‍♀️

  5. I really hate great actors saying they want to move away from smaller movies or can’t make as many as they want to for financial reasons. There are audiences there, they feel underserved, and I don’t really get why studios haven’t found a way to better monetize them.
