That was… the entire movie. The whole thing.

Ariana seems like she’s gonna be a great Glinda. Erivo isn’t hitting for me but I think it’s a directing issue. (Why is SHE surprised she’s green? She was born green!)

This looks absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait. I wasn’t sure how they were going to split it into two parts, but I am very intrigued by the flashes of the additional scenes. Heart and female friendship are the core of Wicked, and the trailer gives hope that they did those justice.

And I simply cannot wait for Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba. Her voice is one of my very favorites. And is that a different riff for Defying Gravity than the one we heard before?

I think sometimes the issue with translating a stage musical to a movie is that, acting on a stage play is supposed to be “big”. Whereas in a movie, it can come across as over acting.

I *love* Wicked. It’s my favourite musical. But, I’m nervous for the movie.

I’m surprised at the lack of part one/part two marketing going on here at the moment. Feels like something you’d expect to see on a poster/trailer that is carrying the advertising to the general public on its shoulders.

Also, all I could think about while watching this was those two brother who got into a fight about whether Glinda is a witch or a princess 😂

Thanks to that long-ass trailer, I’ve basically already watched the movie and therefore can save my money.

But seriously, visually it looks beautiful. I think Ariana is really going to hit this out of the park.

This looks fantastic, I’m so excited. This also erased any fear I had of Ariana. My biggest being she’d play too far into the ditzy side of G(a)Lina, which I’m so happy that she doesn’t. So I’m thankful that this trailer erased that.

Popular looks like a lot of fun. And I’m happy they aren’t hiding that it’s a musical.

The sets (which are practical) look fantastic and I can’t wait to see them on the big screen.

I wish they didn’t show the entire basic plot in the trailer though.

I can’t lie, visually it somehow looks both colorful and washed out/muted simultaneously. I’ll wait to pass final judgment until I see it on the big screen

  8. ok, that looks incredible. i was worried for a while, but ari looks like she will be amazing

  9. im not a big theatre girlie so i am only vaguely aware of the plot, kinda sold on the friendship chemistry alone. Looks like a good role for Ari, I can see the Cat Valentine DNA in there but yknow fun and more Mature. Excited for both Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum too.

  10. Im honestly surprised how much Ariana changed her voice for the character, I love it. Definitely see
how much she is emulating Chenowith.

I think the movie looks amazing so far.

Though are they taking scenes out of Dancing Through Life? Because the hat scene is supposed to be a part of it.

them not promoting this as Part 1 is pretty dumb

    Cinemascore voters don’t like that

  12. The visuals, the high kick, the battle cry, the colors!! I’m ready!!!

I’ll see it. But I don’t like that last note at all. Sorry.

  14. I hit play but there was a mad max trailer right underneath this post, so I watched Wicked with Mad Max audio. It worked somehow đŸ€Ł

  15. Wow, I’m so excited to see this! Ngl I definitely teared up a bit watching. Any misgivings I had about this have been washed away.

I figured they’d divide the two movies up in the same way the musical did, and end part one with defying gravity, with part two picking up from there.
