The Beckham documentary just got nominated for numerous Emmys. This article from Newsweek has an interesting discussion on commercial success vs awards success – why do you think Harry and Meghan’s documentary did so well commercially but didn’t translate into awards success?

Jack Royston loves to insert Harry and Meghan whenever and wherever. I do think the Beckham Docuseries was better made, though 🤷♀️
Well that was a disappointing read. No theories on what made Harry and Meghan unpopular with the Emmy’s beyond implying it’s because they accused members of the royal family of complacency in a smear campaign. Mentioning them at all with the Beckham’s is just transparent and tawdry.
I don’t know how “well made” the H&M doc is because I don’t watch celeb documentaries usually but if someone could comment on that I’d love to hear it.
At least the parts of the Beckham docu that went viral seemed much more light hearted. Maybe voters liked that more?
