I think she just followed whatever sound was popular at the time like Dubstep and then EDM back in the early 2010s. But now that there’s no clear popular sound it’s harder for her to find momentum

those who just stuck in that random circle between acting and singing is just NO for me.. I find it hard and exhausting and it’s not..like hell no. like all what you’re doing is just making money and getting benefits of it all just cause you can sing a little and acting a little. same as jlo she never become that big in her acting career and will never be ofc because she’s sucks. so as Selena but she’s not that bad in her music career we know that but honey she came out of Disney and won’t get any more of sort of like serious acting career. and I don’t know if she’s ever has studied the acting.. tho I didn’t watch her show but I mean it’s clearly not your best choice for a comedy’s best performances..i mean it’s not the bear for sure 😅. I’m gonna watch Emilia but I just know she cannot be that’s what I know. Better for her keep focusing on her very good brand like many others such as Rihanna and leaving behind her that random passion.
Also, when it comes to art (music), the idea of “putting in the work” does not necessarily equate to success. There are songs that artists work hard on (by their own confession) that don’t get any significant recognition while there are song they write in one go that become instantly viral… I don’t think it’s totally fair to say Selena didn’t put in work comparatively to others because her artistic sense is not as viral and consumable.

I always wanted her to continue acting because she was so amazing on WOWP. I couldn’t believe she went on to Spring Breakers and that one action movie that I’ve never heard of… I don’t know what else she’s done, but the reason I mention Spring Breakers is because it looked so cheap at the time and the fact that she went into a movie where the promotional images were of her in a bikini right after Disney was so wild to me. Also, that action movie came out when she was releasing music, I think . I’ve also never seen promos for it or even heard her fans talk about it.

I never cared that Selena wasn’t a vocalist. Her songs, when she was really into it, were fun and fresh. Fetish could’ve been the start of a new image and sound. Her latest releases sound very cookie cutter and bland, like they were trying to hard to make a hit and not music. Regardless, I think she’s a making a good choice sticking with acting and her brand

Of all the Disney girls, I relate to Selena’s music the most. I know Miley is the strongest artist and Demi has the vocal chops, but I’m always playing her rare album or her older droplets like fetish. I also like I can’t get enough, calm down, Good for you, the heart wants what it wants, back to you, and who says will always be such a beautiful meaningful song.

Her strongest body of work for me was Revelacion, Latin pop really suits her and I do hope it isn’t the only body of work she does in Spanish — I think she could have a lot of fun continuing to explore that genre of music especially since it was the only time she was nominated at the Grammys
Since Disney days even as a kid I knew she was never the strongest singer but I appreciated how soft, pretty and easy-listening her voice was. I could listen to her hours upon hours and not get sick of her voice. I always find myself in a soothing state whenever I listen to her music
My take on Selena is that – it’s always how she promotes EVERY single album as ‘her most personal body of work YET’ but if the audience doesn’t receive it well, or doesn’t make it to a #1, its always someone else’s fault ESP her label 😂😂 and I love her I have every single one of her albums, but gurrllll take some accountability!

I was heavily anticipating Love On the album. But with the underwhelming reception of Single Soon and Love On, I understand why she doesn't want to release it if it's just going to flop. For sure acting is her main bag and Rare beauty too. So who knows if we'll get new music or the album any time soon. I wish her the best.

I don’t agree with you in the sense i love selena gomez delivery sooo much yes she is not the best singer but her voice is so sensual and soothing to my ears ( her verse in taki taki or fetish are great example of that) i rather hear her songs than hearing for example an objectively better singer like demi lovato yelling in my ears
