Kylie Jenner is currently the second most-followed woman on Instagram, with over 396 million followers. Despite that, ELLE’s November cover star is pretty offline these days for her own mental health.

She explained in her interview that she has cut back on her social media use. “My friends and I laugh because it’s hard to keep up with the internet now. It’s exhausting,” she said. “When I was posting 24/7—waking up, what I’m eating for breakfast, what I’m wearing for the day, the color of my nails, what car I’m driving, where I’m driving to—I didn’t have an intense schedule. I wasn’t working as much; I didn’t have kids and just had more time. If you’re not posting three times a day on TikTok, you fall behind.”

Jenner does use Instagram and Pinterest to find young designers she can collaborate with for her fashion brand, Khy. She recently added one more classic millennial app to the mix, albeit secretly: “I just got Tumblr again. I’m always searching for inspiration.”

The star is mindful of her use though. She revealed that she sometimes deletes her social media apps from her phone for a week in order to be more present with people.

As a mother of two, Jenner has tried to safeguard her kids, six-year-old Stormi and two-year-old Aire, from the internet, too. She will offer glimpses of their lives with her from time to time, but values having control over what people see.

“When I do share my children, I want it to come from me or their father [Travis Scott],” she said. Her kids do not have their own accounts, nor are they about to, Jenner added. “It’s no socials for as long as possible.” She joked she hopes they hold off “until they move out of the house.”

Even with those restrictions, Jenner can’t keep her daughter completely offline. “Stormi will come home, and she’ll know full TikTok dances,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Where did you learn this?’”
