The annual WWD Honors at Cipriani South Street in New York City gathered an array of celebrities to celebrate the year’s top names in fashion last night. Brunello Cucinelli earned the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, while Tory Burch took home the Women’s Wear Designer of the Year accolade.

Tory Burch dressed several stars for the evening, each in pieces that reflected her elevated, modern design language, though not every ensemble hit the right mark.

A Mismatched Textures

Dressed in a crackle bodysuit and embellished jersey mesh skirt from Tory Burch’s Fall 2024 collection, Ella Hunt’s look felt experimental, if a bit disjointed. While each piece was strong on its own, the combination clashed; the bodysuit’s texture called for a more subtle pairing, and the skirt, though striking, felt at odds with the bodysuit’s intensity. The result was a look that felt like two fashion statements competing for attention.

Glittering Glamour

Danai Gurira shone in a Tory Burch sequined t-shirt dress paired with statement wishbone earrings. Yet, the real conversation starter is to do with her footwear choice. Styled with Manolo Blahnik pumps, the clash between the embellished dress and the statement heels made for a disjointed pairing. I promise you that I don’t have a vendetta against these Manolo Blahnik pumps, but their placements have been questionable this week.

Cozy Chic

Taking a more casual approach, Chloe Fineman’s Tory Burch look might be from the Spring 2025 collection, but the fabrics used to create her quilted top and fringed jacquard skirt, felt very cosy and fall-like.

Completing the look with Tory’s pierced pumps and a mini croc-embossed bag, she captured a modern yet approachable vibe.

Effortless Edge in Oversized Proportions

Breaking from the Tory Burch-dominated lineup, Thomas Doherty brought a fresh silhouette to the event in a black Burberry Pre-Fall 2024 suit designed by Daniel Lee. The oversized cut not only added a unique visual impact but seemed to alter Thomas’ overall presence, lending him an almost towering effect. With the lapels flipped up, he gave a nod style rebellion, bringing plenty of swagger to his modern tailoring.
